Optician
Duties and responsibilities:
Opticians are in charge of fitting and dispensing eyeglasses
for patients based on the order that the ophthalmologist or optometrists
prescribed. They also help customers select their frames, and then measure
their faces. They may also be in charge of fitting contact lenses and
artificial eyes.
Average salary: $19,000 - $40,000
Educational requirements:
Students should take high school courses in physics, algebra,
mechanical drawing, and geometry. A high school diploma or GED certificate is required
to begin training. It is optional whether to complete a two-year course at a
school of opticianry, or a three-year course on the job apprenticeship.
Reflection: as of what I know about Opticians, I honestly
would not like to study to
become one for many reasons. First because it doesn’t
catch my attention, second it doesn’t seem like my type of job, and third I wouldn’t
like working with eyeglasses. (x
