Pharmacy Technician
Duties and
responsibilities:
A pharmacist
technician is in charge of filling prescriptions according to the doctors’
orders. They measure the amount of
medication from large containers to fill in smaller containers. Their work is
then rechecked by a pharmacist before the medication is handed over to the
patient. Pharmacy technicians are also in charge of checking inventories and
ordering supplies, receiving and checking supplies, waiting for customers,
keeping the pharmacy clean, and helping out patients fill out their insurance
forms.
Average salary:
$15,000 - $25,000
Educational requirements:
Students
should take the most challenging courses in high school. A high school diploma
is required to begin training. Then two year courses are available at most
community colleges.
Reflection: I honestly would not like to be
a Pharmacy Technician for many reasons. You have a lot of duties and get paid
very little amount, second it doesn’t seem like it’d be my type of job.
