A Neurologist is a doctor who
specializes in treating diseases of the nervous system. The nervous system
comprises the central and peripheral nervous system. This complex system involves
the spinal cord and the brain. Neurologists examine patients suffering from
neurological disorders, such as seizure disorders, Parkinson’s disease or
Alzheimer’s disease. They order diagnostic tests to identify neurological
disorders. They may order blood tests and analysis of the patient’s spinal
fluid. They develop a treatment plan for patients after diagnosing a disorder
or condition. Neurologists direct the activities of nurses and medical
technicians in the treatment of the patients.

Education:
Attending college and attending
medical school, it is required to take biology, chemistry, physics, and math
courses. Neurologist must attend a medical school accredited by the Liaison
Committee on Medical Education and the pass the United States Medical Licensing
Examination.
